Soybean tolerance to defoliation at the vegetative and reproductive stages as a function of water restriction

چکیده

Water deficiency reduces leaf expansion and photosynthetic efficiency, potentially reducing the ability to withstand area (LA) loss. This study aimed evaluate effects of water restriction on soybean tolerance defoliation in vegetative reproductive periods development. Two experiments were conducted a greenhouse located Lages, Santa Catarina State Brazil, during 2017/2018 growing season. Cultivar NA 5909 RG was subjected three WR levels (none, moderate, severe) five (0, 17, 33, 50, 67%). Defoliation occurred at V6 stage first experiment R3 second. for 7 days after defoliation. LA R2 R5 decreased by 27.5 64.6%, respectively, regardless WR. between not influenced or Moderate severe reduced plant recover R5. Severe grain production 22.2% period 21.2% per compared that control, The highest level 24.7 24.3% relative control stages R3, imposed did increase sensitivity.

Flooding tolerance of tomato genotypes during vegetative and reproductive stages

A greenhouse experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of flooding on two tomato cultivars and two wild related species. Forty days old tomato plants were subjected to a continuous flooding stress of different durations: 0, 2, 4 and 8 days. Plant pots were placed inside larger plastic pots; they were irrigated with excessive quantity of tap water at 25C so that the level of water above...

Maize (Zea mays L.) Response to Nitrogen Fertilizer under Drought Stress at Vegetative and Reproductive Stages

In the sub-tropics, water and nitrogen are the most important factors limiting the grain yield of maize. The effect of nitrogen (N) rates and drought stress at different growth stages of maize were investigated. Nitrogen treatments consisted of 100, 150, and 200  kgN.ha-1 from the urea source while water stress treatments were composed of irrigation-off since the early 10-leaf stage to emergenc...

Soybean adaptation to water stress at selected stages of growth.

Soybean (Glycine max [L.] Merr. cv Braxton) plants were grown in sandy soil with only natural rainfall (N) or with supplemental irrigation (I). Water-stressed plants grew more extensive root systems, whereas irrigated plants developed larger shoots and smaller root systems. Maximum stomatal apertures were observed at the beginning of each photoperiod. Partial stomatal closure occurred each afte...
